Mt. Talinis
This picturesque and double-peaked volcano is locally known as the ‘Cuernos de Negros’ which means ‘Horns of Negros’. This mountain is blanketed with a rich thriving jungle and is situated at Valencia, west of Dumaguete City. Although it is officially considered as dormant, this mountain still has active vents in which hot sulfurous gases emerge plus the vast supply of sulphuric and hot springs within its close proximity.
Pulang Bato Falls
Pulang bato falls is located within Ocoy Valley of Valencia, Negros Oriental. The name is derived from its seemingly flowing red water which is due to the natural red rocks surrounding the area. This waterfall is blessed with calm and refreshing water and a wide cascade pouring into a swimming hole deep enough for high dives. Locals and visitors find Pulangbato falls so special because it gives the illusion of the water being color red.
Mt. Kanlaon
If you’re an adventurer and you want to explore an active volcano, you might want to try Mt. Kanlaon of Negros Island. This volcano is about 2600 meters high and is included in the top 5 highest mountains in the Philippines. Its crater is breathtakingly 100 meters wide and 400 meters deep. The trail to reach the summit is steep and the hike there will surround hikers with rich agricultural and to the thick rainforest until the bald landscape surrounding the crater.
Tañon Strait Dolphin Watching
The Tañon Strait is the natural habitat of several whale and dolphin species. Recently, whale and dolphin watching is becoming popular among foreign tourists and local ones due to its appealing combination of fun activities plus being able to witness some of the ocean’s beautiful creatures. There will be a showcase of the kinds of dolphins and whales while you’re in the vicinity.
Talabong Bird Sanctuary and Mangrove Park
This Bird Sanctuary and Mangrove Park is a 400 hectare protected forest located in Bais City. It is a natural habitat and nesting ground for various bird species and plenty of other wildlife. A visit to this park is usually a must especially for an organized group tour to watch the dolphins and whales at the Tañon Strait. There is a trod of raised split bamboo walkways which extend about a hundred meters and was constructed thanks to the local government and residents so that visitors can have easier access.
